Regional Priorities

This state supports the National IPM Goals which are to

  1. Improve Economic Benefits Related to the Adoption of IPM Practices,
  2. Reduce Potential Human Health Risks from Pests and the Use of IPM Practices, and
  3. Minimize Adverse Environmental Risks from Pests and the use of IPM Practices.

Project Description

The Oklahoma component of the Southern Region IPM center responds to pesticide and pest management information requests by USDA and EPA. The Oklahoma state contact facilitates information from stakeholder groups such as the Oklahoma Wheat, Commission, Peanut Commission, Nursery & Greenhouse Growers, Watermelon growers, Turf grass Association and many other producer groups. The state contact has a close working relationship with applicator groups such as the Oklahoma Agribusiness Retailers Association, Oklahoma Agricultural Aviation Association, and Oklahoma Vegetation Management Association, and Oklahoma Pest Control Association. The Oklahoma State Contact works closely with the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, IR-4 Liaison, and IPM coordinator in trying to meet Oklahoma pest management needs. The state contact has worked closely with the IPM Coordinator to start a volunteer school IPM program in Oklahoma.
